How to Memorize the Holy Quran?

Salam'alaykum wbt...

Something to share with all of you for today.
Let us all try to apply it, starts from now, shall we? InsyaAllah! (^_^)

By Dr. Yahya al-Ghouthani, Jeddah (world leading Quranic recitation authority)
Translated by Abu Muqatil

In light of the principles which have passed us by in the previous section, I say to whoever wants to memorize a page from the Holy Quran from any chapter that I hope that you will stay with me so we can read the following steps together at ease paving the way to apply it precisely.

1. Obtain a good mus-haf

Try to obtain a good copy of the Quran whose size is according to your need and never ever replace it so that you will be strong in memorising the parts of the pages and the lines. The mushaf al-huffaaz (the memorisers’ codex) [i.e. the text of the popular green edition from Madina written by the world famous calligrapher, Ta Ha Uthman] is preferred which starts with the verse at the start of the page and finishes with the last verse, and it is divided up well, whereby the Quran being thirty juz` (parts), every juz` has 20 pages and every page has 25 lines. The King Fahd organization in Medina al-Munawwarah has built a printer for this copy and I advice getting it as it is the most accurate contemporary print.

2. Set the scene

Setting the scene for memorization according to the following:-

i. Self-composure – Have the correct intention in mind and a desire for reward from Allah

ii. Wudoo` (ablution) and complete purity – Do not take the easy option of those who give a fatwa (legal edict) for its opposite as that goes against what befits high regard of the Speech of Allah and good manners with it.

iii. Comfortable setting – Sitting in a place where you feel at ease, and there is no more sacred place than the mosque.

iv. Free of distractions – It is preferred that it is a place without many pictures, carvings, decorations and distractions. The more enclosed the place is – with all due regards to fresh air – the better, compared with open space, trees and gardens. Even if some may differ with me, but I say this based upon experience not from abstract thinking. The atmosphere for light reading is different from the atmosphere for focused memorization, as wide spaces, sceneries and trees distract the mind and focus. Whatever is suitable for light reading is not needed for genuine work and focus, as mentioned in rule 4.

v. Face the Qibla – (direction of prayer towards Mecca) and sit in a state of submission, tranquillity and respect.

3. “Warm up”

Begin the “warm up” process (for want of a better expression). It is the preparation where you read a few pages of the Quran before starting the memorization process, whether from memory or looking. Recite nicely, listening to yourself without haste or delay.

This is a fundamental component in preparing the self. You will find many successful memorization teachers do not allow the student to memorize before getting them to revise the previous session and letting the sheikh hear. This is to prepare him psychologically and spiritually for memorization, whilst the student may be totally unaware of the teacher’s aim.

4. Be controlled in recitation

Beware of your voice’s beauty from distracting you at this point. The sweetness of your tone encompasses you in the atmosphere of chanting. So you start thinking that you’re so-and-so, the famous reciter, then you assume his persona and start to recite with deliberation and perfecting the letters. You repeat it and recite it again like some of the reciters.

Perhaps it all goes over the top and you bring out a microphone and recording equipment. Time will pass by whilst you are unaware, and you become like that young man who really wanted to memorize the Quran but every time he sat down to memorize he opened the Quran at Surah Yusuf and began to chant it until the time passed him by and he memorized absolutely nothing.

5. “Feel that urge…”

About 10-15 minutes of the warm up exercise and personal preparation you will feel a strong desire in yourself to memorize, with that it is possible for you to start with a new page you want to memorize.

6. Focus

Here begins an important stage, you really have to doubly focus on the verses. Imagine that your eye is a camera lens, and that you want to film the page with sound and image. Be careful not to shake the camera.

7. “Action!”

Open your eyes well. Free your mind from any distraction. Read by looking at the first verse at the top of the page in an audible voice with tajw5d [the correct rules of recitation]. Read correctly with concentration. Lets use an as example His statement, the Most High:

The fools among the people will say, “What has turned them from their prayer direction to which they were used to face in prayer.” Say, “To Allah belong both, east and the west. He guides whom He wills to a Straight Way.” [2:142]

Read three or more times until your mind takes it all in, then close your eyes and picture in your mind the places of the words and read them. If you succeed in reading them completely without any mistake, don’t get excited but instead repeat two, three or five times.

8. Repeat

Then open your eyes a second time. Read the same verse from the book to confirm the correctness of your memorization. If you are certain that you’ve memorized it correctly, don’t get excited. Instead close your eyes and read another time. With this you have chiseled in your mind an engraving that is impossible to disappear with the permission of Allah, the Most High. Try the steps carefully, you will definitely find this approach sound.

Note: During the process of recall and repetition, be careful not to divert your gaze to the things around you such as written notices distributed upon walls, posters, artwork, or décor. Do not follow a whirling fan. Do not be concerned about the type of furniture or coverings you’re sitting on. Be careful of excessively looking out of the windows, perhaps your eyes will chance upon something that will not please you, or perhaps you will be distracted by the scene of people in the street, or the scene of cars as happens to students during their revision for their exams. One of them stands at the window with the excuse of getting fresh air, then there he takes a census of cars based upon make and model, and in this manner time passes him and is wasted whilst he hasn’t benefited a single thing.

You have no business with these distractions. You have to put yourself forward as someone from the people of the Quran and from its memorizes, and that requires motivation, perseverance, focus and an absence of distractions.

9. Next verse

After that move to the verse immediately following it:

Thus we have made you a middle nation…[2:143]

and begin with the same steps we outlined with the previous verse. If you think the verse is long, then divide it into several parts corresponding to correct and sound stops and normal meanings. Then repeat and repeat many times until it is engraved deeply in your memory.

10. Connection process

Begin now with the connection process which I mentioned in the eighth rule of memorization. That is by opening the book and focusing on the last part of the first verse – for example – إلى صراط مستقيم …and read it with an audible voice then connect it quickly without any stop with the first part of the second verse وكذلك جعلناكم أمة وسطا. Repeat this process many times but no less than five times.

After reading these steps – if you like them – begin implementing them straight away and record in a special notebook the date of beginning memorization. Contact someone you love and trust, and then tell them that you have found a technique in memorizing the Quran that you began applying today, so that you can be someone who guides to good.

One of the benefits of contacting someone like this is that it will be an encouragement for you in memorization and continuation, as it reflects an increased conviction in oneself with what you’ve read.

This is what is confirmed in psychology, if a person does something and he convinces someone else about it, then it is like taking a firm stance without retracting from it and his behaviour increases his conviction in what he does.

It is possible to summarize this method in the following steps:-

1. Personal composure

2. Warm up

3. Concentration

4. Repetition

5. Connecting

Result = a strong memorization with the best method.

Love Doctor

Salam'alaykum wbt...

Love Doctor = Doktor Cinta?

Alhamdulillah...

(ShadaqaAllah hul azim-All that Allah had said is True)

Dari Surah apakah ini?

Surah yang semua orang sangat familiar... Surah Al-Asr (103: 1-3).

=)

Ya, ana pernah berkata begitu pada diri sendiri waktu mula-mula bergelar "The Pelajar Medic".

Love Allah.
Love Rasulullah.
Love My Family.
Love Myself.
Myself = Doctor (soon-to-be).
So,
Love Myself = Love Doctor
(^_^)

Wallahua'lam. Wassalam.

p/s: Oh tak lupa juga, jom tingkatkan AMAL IBADAH!
Tahajjud dan hafal Al-Quran.
Banyak masa yang ada ni.
Jom! Jom!

Meaningful!

Salam'alaykum wbt...

Seems like most degree students are having their holiday right now... For almost 3 months. Some of them are planning to do useful stuffs, go for a vacation or maybe in the case of 1st year Meds student, we might need to re-study all subjects that we've studied in the past 1 year. Well, seems like the topics that we need to cover is actually A LOT! But, that's actually the reason why we need to re-study now since we might not be able to re-study everything in 2 weeks before the PRO EXAM. Well, I do believe Dentist students have their benefits of experiencing Pro Exam every year because at least they dont need to revise all thing of 2 years syllabus in 2 weeks like what we need to do. But then, having to experience Pro Exam every single year can really make you so stress out. So, no matter what course you're taking right now, it does have its own weaknesses and benefits. As long as you try so hard to cope with it, you'll be fine. That's what I always think. (^_^)

Anyways, if you dont plan of studying during this 3-months period, what exactly are you planning to do? Rasulullah saw once stated that those who does not improve from who he was yesterday are indeed among people who have loss. In fact, in the Holy Quran, Allah SWT reminds mankind to use their time wisely. In Surah Al-Asr verse 1-3 He stated that, "By time, Indeed, mankind is in loss, Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience,"

So, just in case you're not planning to do anything meaningful, you're wasting your priceless neurons! They might die, unable to survive due to lack of energy given to them via thinking-activities of yours. I may have very few and simple suggestion of activities that you may be able to do throughout this holiday.

-Memorising Al-Quran (learning language at the same time)
-Learn more Hadith Sahih and others
-Improve your knowledge to improve your aqidah
-Try to do Tahajjud minimum 3 times a week- You have no excuses right now, dont you? ;-)
-Do muhasabah to see whether you've improved from who you were before
-Help your parents
-Be the babysitter
-Re-design your bedroom maybe? ;-)
-Surf useful websites (I've provided few links at the column, on your right)
-Read knowledgeable books
-A lot more others.
*I'll keep on updating this whenever I have something come up in my mind.

Well, I bet most of my friends are watching movies or dramas right now since they might having Movie or Drama Marathon (the one that does not lose any weights =P) . Of course, I'm not gonna say it's a bad thing although it is a little bit of wasting your precious time. But then again, why it's NOT a bad thing? Well, simply because I learn to speak English and Mandarin through excessive watching all these kind of things few years back (Err, I'm not really into Korean dramas or movies. So, I can hardly pick up the language but I do know some of it because my roommates love to say few Hanguk words in our room. ^^,). There's always useful ways of appreciating things, right? If you just watch, saja nak layan perasan, then that's a waste! So, try to get anything that you can earn, and it's free! You have 'live' class in front of your eyes. Make use of it to the fullest okay?! (^_*)

Oh well, I was about to write more and more but I have a duty as the most loveliest(=P) child in the world. My mom's calling me to help her out for something.

Till then, Wassalam.

Islamic Ta'aruf

Salam'alaykum wbt.

Let's try to search and discover who we are before we make efforts to know others, shall we?
(^_^)

"Truly in the heart there is a sadness that cannot be removed except with the happiness of knowing Allah and being true to Him. And in it there is an emptiness that cannot be filled except with love for Him and by turning to Him and always remembering Him. And if a person were given all of the world and what's in it, it would not fill this emptiness"
(Ibn Al-Qayyim)

"I am a traveler seeking the truth, a human searching for the meaning of humanity and a citizen seeking dignity, freedom, stability and welfare under shade of Islam. I am a free man who is aware of the purpose of his existence and who proclaims: "Truly my prayer and my sacrifice, my living and my dying are all for Allah, the Lord of the worlds, no partner has He. This, am I commanded and I am of those who submit to His Will," This is who I am. WHO ARE YOU?"
(Hassan al-Banna)

Sharing Jokes~!

Salam'alaykum wbt.

Terjumpa jenaka ni di facebook. Ana rasa nak share. Silakan membacanya. Dan ambil pengajaran mungkin? (^_^)

Orang salafi masuk syurga,
lalu melihat bidadari,
Langsung pengsan orang salafi itu,
Orang agama masuk syurga dan lihat bidadari,
Bidadari yang pengsan,
Lalu di angkatnya bidadari itu ke ranjang,
di gegar bidadari itu lalu di tanya,
Adik kenapa adik pengsan?
Lalu bidadari itu katakan,
hmmm antum BAU ROKOK.

Orang agama kemudian mahu hisap rokok,
Di tanya sama malaikat Ridhwan,
Wan, wan ana mahu isap rokok,
Kerana apa?
Tertulis di pintu syurga...
"NO SMOKING"

Heheh... Fikir2kan. Semoga bermanfaat! (^_^)

Wallahua'alam. Wassalam.

p/s: As you can see, I'm an obvious ANTI-SMOKER.

Tenangkan Hati Dengan Menghafal al Quran.

Salam'alaykum wbt...

Firman Allah swt:

Perkongsian buat penghafaz kalam Allah…

Betulkan niat setiap kali menghafaz al-Quran hanya kerana Allah. Kurangkan makan makanan segera yang sememangnya diyakini kurang khasiatnya. Kurangkan makan makanan diluar seperti makanan ‘khidmat tawsil’ kerana kita tidak tahu amalan orang yang masak makanan tersebut walau orang Arab sekalipun.

Rugi menghafaz hanya semata-mata kerana ‘exam’. Renung-renungkan…Selamat Beramal. Jom hafal Al-Quran! (^_^)

The Confession Dilemma

Salam'alaykum wbt everyone. I make du'a for the success of each one of us so we may be successful here and not to forget, HereAfter too of course! InsyaAllah, Ameen Ya Rabb! (^_^)

There's this movie that I've just finished watching few hours ago and I decided to write a post regarding the movie. Well, it's not that I'm going to story exactly what's the film is all about... It's just... I felt so motivated to talk about two things that the movie clearly wants to highlight, which are SELF ESTEEM & MOTIVATION.

I do believe I'm a kind of person who have a low self esteem. Seriously... When it comes to certain things, I just cannot let myself to do it. The feeling of insecurity kinda kills me inside out.

Obviously, many people wish to do something that sometimes doesn't fit with their ownselves. But they really wish they could do it. But somehow they just couldn't! You know what I meant right? It's like, you feel you wanna eat a bunch of Ferrero Rocher chocolate to fulfill your cravings but you just couldn't because you're afraid it will result to the deposition of liposaccharides to your body tissue and you might end up gaining few kilograms because you didn't use all kilo Joules that you just consume. (Sorry for the mighty lengthy informal science lecture from the most unqualified persona) *sigh*

Some people are trying to hide their identity because they're not confident with their ownselves.(err... am I included?) They're afraid of rejection and believe me, people are REALLY afraid of rejection because it hurts so much... So much so they're willing to take no risk that may lead to that. They just couldn't bear any kind of situations like that. So, they end up hiding their identity from the reality. And it's actually the world of FANTASY.

I do believe people who can motivate other people are actually the people who needs motivations from others before they could end up being a motivator, giving motivational talk to other people. They must have gone through a lot of situations that they could understand other people's situation. I do believe that people who motivates other people are actually needs the same motivation from other people. Since they dont want these people to be frustrated or end up in a situation that they have experienced before (i.e. not getting any motivation from other people), they start to motivate these people so that they wont feel the same way as much as these motivators did.

Did you realize that motivators always know the right way and the right words of motivating people? In order to be a good motivator, it's not necessarily that they have to be a genius in any kind of field. They only need to have these 2 things in them:

'Empathy' and 'Sympathy'

Having these 2 characteristics in their soul will make them eligible enough to be a motivator. And above all, they must be the one who are willing to help people to improve their life qualities. It seems easy, right? Trust me. It is not as easy as you think it is!

Not many people have these qualities in their ownselves. And it's actually really hard to find somebody who are willing to help other people, sincerely, without any intention of getting something in return. Well, maybe there are people who can really do things with pure intention. But hey, being a motivator is like helping people for the rest of your life. It's a non on-off kind of thing. Once you become a motivator, people will always look for more from you. And you cannot just ruin other people's hope. You need to motivate them at least as good as you did before! And doing the same thing all over again is not that easy. And in the end, you might end up lying to people who puts their hope upon you. Isn't that 'EASY'? =)

Well, as far as I'm writing here, it kinda reflects my ownself all together. Sometimes I do motivate people with things that I actually need to get motivated for my ownself too! It's like an opportunity, actually, that Allah SWT give to us. He sends us people who needs our help regarding the same matter that we needs help too. Maybe He wants us to say things that we can actually use to motivate our self. Or maybe the least that we can do is to think! We don't need to 'GET' the motivation actually. It's already there. The motivation is IN you! You don't really need other people to tell you what you need to do. Sometimes you already knew what to do. It's just that you're afraid to take and grab that opportunity to tell your ownself the real truth. Right? =)

Don't you ever let your ownself to be DEmotivated. It's in YOU. Light it up~! Be brave! Brave enough to do what you really need to do. Let it out! Fly like a bird! You're free from everything! Why need to control yourself over things that you shouldn't do? It's in your heart. Be confident of yourself. Be confident of who you are! Guided by Quran and Sunnah, you can NEVER go astray.

Wallahua'alam. Wassalam.

Surat CINTA buat KAMU. =)

Salam'alaykum wbt...

*CAUTION!: This post is especially dedicated to a person whom I dear so much,
namely called ONE TRUE FRIEND*

Allah Maha Kuasa, Makhluk langsung takda kuasa…

To Shida, EID MILLAD SAIED dear sahabat!

Mere pyare dost,

Semoga hidupmu diberkatiNya selalu.

Dear beloved friend,

For all mistakes that I have ever done to you, I sincerely ask for your forgiveness. I couldn’t express how much I care for you as my best friend. I really love you because of Allah. I know, I’m not being the best girl friend that you have ever had. I have done so many mistakes to you that I shouldn’t do. You’re amongst the best things that have ever happen to me in my life. I’m no good as a friend for you. I’m really sorry if I have ever hurt you throughout our friendship.

Dear Shida,

I really hope this relationship between us will remain forever. InsyaAllah, Ameen.

"A friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway," And that is YOU.
"A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out," And that is YOU.
"Friends are needed both for joy and for sorrow," And that is YOU.
"Friendship doubles our joy and divides our grief," And that is YOU.
"A best friend is like a four leaf clover: hard to find and lucky to have," And that is YOU.
"Good friends are like stars... You don't always see them, but you know they're always there," And that is YOU.
"Most people walk in and out of your life. But only friends leave footprints in your heart," And that is YOU.

NFIM

Are you REALLY a MUSLIM?

Salam'alaykum wbt...

I dont know what kind of things that initiate my heart and mind to write about this. But I'm pretty sure that I was influenced by 4 presentations from my classmates just now, who presented about the Civilization of Muslim Caliphate.I sure do gain lots of knowledge today. Something that's so precious! To know who we are and realize what our duties that we're carrying throughout our entire life living in this world.

Being a Muslim is something that people should be proud of. Not only that, we have to know that we have so many things that we need to think and do in order to brings back The Greatness of Islam. There's no time to think about or let ourself to be influenced by Hedonism, which is something that most people do. Many of us, well majority of us really fall for it. We enjoy hearing musics, watching movies, playing games, reading novel, yada3 instead of listening and learning the message that Allah send to us through Al-Quran. There's so many things that we SHOULD do. And yet, we never realize it.

I do sometimes despise myself for being so lagha and let myself drown into things that I shouldn't such as watching movies when I have free times. For the last few days, I didn't even open my Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Environmental Health notes (which is something that I SHOULD DO as a student).

See? How Hedonism have been so GREAT by controlling our mind and heart! Just like one of Maher Zain's songs which clearly stated:
"Yes it's easy to blame everything on the WEST, when in fact our focus should be on OURSELVES"
I should be more particular regarding Ummatic problem. I should focusing more on our brothers and sisters in Palestine. I should learn to help any Muslims who are my siblings in Islam throughout the entire world. I should improve my knowledge about history of Islam. I SHOULD be who I'm suppose to be as a MUSLIM! And that's the best way living in this world.

People can talk how eager they are to be Mujaheedin, fighting against any cruel power of the world. Yes, we are trying to bring back the Caliphate Era in front of our eyes, right now, so that we can live harmoniously in this world. Yes, we can talk! But do we really perform at least the very basic things to be applied in our lives?
1. Perform congregational solah (prayer) 5 times each day fulfilling Takbiratul Ula
2. Performing Solatan Sunnah
3. Du'a not just for the Ummah but mainly for ourselves so that we can be strong enough to be the best Muslim that serves for Allah
4. Giving sadaqah, not necessarily by giving money because money is NOT everything that counts to give a good and ikhlas sadaqah.
5. To be a Mukhlisin in whatever we do
6. To do good to our parents and siblings and also our keen
7. To do good to our friends by performing solah jama'ah, not jama'ahly watching music videos during Maghrib time!
8. To do good to our respected lecturers who have been sacrificing their holidays in order to know and help our work progress.
9. To love Allah and Rasulullah above everything, before your unlawful love ones (aka boyfriend or girlfriend or whatever you call them. Baby, dear, sayang or whatsoever, it doesn't matter. As long as it if unlawful, it will always remain as that!
10. Yada3.

There's so many basic things that we SHOULD do so that at least we will not be among people who contributed to bad things or bad names to Islam. (Na'udzubillah min zalik)

Look. People can be so excited when they talk about entertainment and politics. In fact, if there's any demonstrations, we can find so many people pooling on that particular place. But I found this status, I'm not sure where and when. But it states +- like this.
"There's so many people who have been so spirited to be mujaheedin. They said they want to fight for Islam. But I dont even see these people, the same faces(who went for demonstration) at the mosque when Allah calls them for prayer. In fact they just ignore the azan by the mu'azin"

See?

I'm not blaming anybody here. I'm truthfully and sincerely writing this to reflect on myself. As a Muslim, I know I can be better and I SHOULD be better. Instead of wasting my time facebook-ing(which is something that I dont do like I used to anymore), I should spend my time reading about histories of Islam, find at least some way to contribute something for Islam. That's what I'm supposed to do, now and then.

I cant comment more regarding what people should or shouldn't do. We know what's best for us. Well, Allah knows. Just in case you wanna fight for Islam, please DO SO. But do it in proper way and peacefully. But what we're doing right now is none of that. We are so divided! And now we still wanna fight for Islam? UNITY! Unite first! Then only talk about jihad. Or is that not the right way? Fine. Fight for Islam without supporting one another. We can see whether we can win or LOSE BADLY in the future.

"And hold fast all together by the rope which Allah (stretches out for you) and be not divided among yourselves; and remember with gratitude Allah's favor on you; for ye were enemies and He joined your hearts in love so that by His grace ye became brethren; and ye were on the brink of the pit of fire and He saved you from it. Thus doth Allah make his signs clear to you: that ye may be guided". (Verse 013, Al-Imran).

Abu Hurairah, radiyallahu 'anhu, reported that the Messenger of Allah, sallallahu 'alayhi wasallam, said:
"Do not be envious of one another; do not artificially inflate prices against one another; do not hate one another; do not shun one another; and do not undercut one another in business transactions; and be as fellow-brothers and servants of Allah.
A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim. He neither oppresses him nor humiliates him nor looks down upon him. Piety is here - and he pointed to his chest three times. It is evil enough for a Muslim to hold his brother Muslim in contempt. All things of a Muslim are inviolable for another Muslim: his blood, his property and his honour." [Muslim]

Isn't this enough?

Wallahua'lam.

Skyscraper!

Salam'alaykum wbt...

It feels great! Now I understand why people always adore their nieces or nephews even though they're not even their own kids. Babies and children... They came directly from heaven with pure heart and adorable faces. That's what makes us become really attracted to their cuteness. Name me who doesn't? =D

Now I have one nephew on my own. And it feels great! Alhamdulillah... It's a blessing from Allah SWT. =) We were so excited to have him as part of our not-so-small-but-not-that-big family. And when we received the news from my brother that SAF was born on Tuesday, I'm actually the MOST EXCITED person! Oh well... pardon me. =P

And because of this cute little boy, my family and I have to fly away directly from Kuantan to Penang, to welcome him in our lives!
*Well, actually, I think it's kinda because of me... Well, I'm not that patient enough to wait for another few weeks to see him! So, I kinda force ask my parents to go together as soon as we can. And we end up buying airplane ticket on the spot. Can you imagine how much does it cost??? It's so expensive. SERIOUSLY.*

Salam'alaykum. Irummi My name is Shah Adam Fadly a.k.a SAF. B-D

There it goes. We met him. And he's so adorable!!! And now I miss him already. Hahah~ Thinking of his bad habit, this boy is so.... =.=". One thing. He loves to f*rt. Seriously. XD

Wassalam.
